TCU Preview - Spencer

No question this is a program defining moment for BYU, at least in the Bronco Mendenhall era. Bronco has proven that he can win the big game (TCU, Utah, and Oregon in 2006), and win a conference championship. However, can he do this on a consistent basis like was done in the Lavell Edwards era where BYU at least shared a piece of the conference crown year after year.
BYU will win if they come out with emotion, protect the ball, and stop TCU from controlling the line of scrimmage.
Prediction: the Cougars play with intensity, focus, and determination and move the program to the next level. BYU 42 TCU 10.

Spence, I like the prediction ... I was thinking a lot about the Rice game from 1996 when I did my preview for this TCU game. What? I know you were gone, but Rice came to Provo late in the season (Nov. 9) that year with only one loss and the Cougs were unbeaten in the WAC. There was a lot of build-up before the game and the Cougs, led by Steve Sarkisian, came out and enjoyed a little "fried Rice" in a 49-0 whipping of the Owls. The big win helped move the Cougars on to finish their 14-1 season. This game has a similar pre-game feeling ... we'll see tonight!

Guys, First,I really like the blog. Second, I think the prediction would have been right had BYU been a little more aggressive in their defensive play-calling, and had the offense been a little more crisp. Nonetheless, I am pleased with the performance and hope we can make some adjustments and come out on top next week in Laramie.
