It's Good to Be Back! 2011 Welcome ...

Bronco Celebrates with the BYU Team
The Cougars have ventured into football Independence and are now only days away from their season opener against Ole Miss.  All the talk and the hype will come to end when the Cougars take the field Saturday and get a chance to show whether this "talented" team is ready for a season full of high expectations.  As I return to blogging I hope to inform you my readers (yes, I know you are both out there) with a statistical insight into BYU and their opponents mixed with my opinions and predictions.
For starters this year, let's take a look at how the Cougars have fared under Coach Mendenhall in season openers.
Record: 4-2 (.667)
Road Openers: 1-1 (.500) counting Oklahoma in 2009 as a road opener
Home Openers: 3-1 (.750)
Current Season Opener Win Streak: 4 games (last lost @Arizona in 2006)
Average Points Scored: 19
Average Points Against: 15
50% have been decided by 6 points or less

Ole Miss is 2-1 under Houston Nutt is season openers.

I hope to have some better statistics put together later in the week.  And of course, I will have my prediction by Saturday morning.
